The risk of mesothelioma is very real for the veterans of our nation. This is especially true for those who have served in the Navy on board. Exposure to asbestos is concentrated which has received many decades ago during their military service to various health problems for our veterans, including mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis. Asbestos insulation was used in the Navy during World War II, the Korean War andthe Vietnam era. Its use was so widespread that most of the Navy veterans were exposed to asbestos in some way.

Before 1980, asbestos insulation was always present on board ship for insulation steam pipes and fittings, doors, and even the sound muffler between decks. For decades, it was hard not to be exposed to asbestos insulation aboard Navy ships. Asbestos-lined pipes around the vessels, pipes, which took place just a few inches above the beds in the sailors'Beds. In addition, the crew remained on board ships usually during routine maintenance, lives and works as asbestos insulation has been repaired or replaced in several areas around the ship. Sometimes, the crew remained on board ships also have been completely overhauled for months at a time in dry dock. Even if a person does not require the task of dealing directly with asbestos, it was very easy to get free, when asbestos was all over the ship for a disturbedoverhaul.

Navy personnel with the highest risk for asbestos exposure are those who have worked without ventilation in the confined space ships, such as fire and engine rooms, where the insulation and refractory products have been used heavily. These professions are enginemen, firefighter, firefighters, plumbers, shipfitters, electricians colleagues and fellow driver. Seabees-those of the military, also received heavy loads.

In fact, many Navy workClassification represented a significant risk for asbestos. Of course, not everyone exposed to asbestos develop mesothelioma. But for those who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma after serving in the Navy, it is important to examine whether exposure may, in time spent on board the vessel occurred. For those who carried out the following professions asbestos exposure was likely (the letters after each title stands for the Navy for workClassification):

Sonarman (SO)
Sound engineer (SOM)

asbestos exposure was for those who have served in the following professions (the letters after each title stands for the Navy for the job classification), probably:

If you served in the Navy in one ofthese professions and experience the symptoms found with mesothelioma, you should contact your doctor for a check-up as quickly as possible.
